1. Despite two hard injuries, Hayley got the second best strike rate
in her career, winning for second consecutive year the Prolinx Lady Jockeys’
Championship. James Fanshawe was the trainer that gave her
most winners during the flat season, 9 over 22 rides, turning out an incredible
41%.

2. 19 Apr. 4th winner for The Queen riding Sign Manual at Newbury in a very close
finish. For Hayley that win was her
highlight of the year: HT: ‘Riding The Queen’s Sign Manual to
win in front of her Majesty and the BBC cameras at Newbury in April was my
highlight of the year. It was a fantastic buzz and I admit there were some
nerves walking into the paddock but The Queen immediately puts me at ease and
we went on to discuss the horses’.

3. 9 May. First double at Goodwood, where Hayley was an ambassador last year. The
first win was with Enobled, trained
by Sir Michael Stoute, for whom Hayley
hadn’t won yet. The second one was with her favourite filly, Ribbons in her
second race. HT: ‘I was edging to the outside, but
there was quite a strong headwind so I decided to take shelter and come between
horses. She showed a lovely turn of foot and it all worked out nicely’.

4. 22 Jun. The best results of the season with
3 photo finish winners: Azrur and Ribbons won at Newmarket and Standpoint and Lingfield. Only 3 days after splitting up, Michael Bell and Hayley reunited
in triumph thanks to Azrur. One hour
later, Ribbons and Hayley won their third race and kept both
unbeaten. HT: ‘It was a bit of a messy race, but she stayed on
really well’. Hayley
can’t ride her ‘bubble’ other times due to her injuries. Ribbons won again at Glorious Goodwoond and lost by first time at Yarmouth. HT: ‘I missed riding her when she got beaten at Yarmouth in September. I don’t think she was
her true self that day. She does have a bit of an attitude and should mature
mentally, as well as physically, next year’.
5. 3 Jul. Seal
Of Approval won at Kempton racecourse showing a great turn of foot. HT: ‘She was having her third run and first of the season. She was quite
green and ran in snatches but once she got going and the hang of it all again,
she won quite comfortably’. Sadly, Hayley suffered a fall riding Seal Of Approval at Doncaster.
After that, the Fanshawe’s filly won the Fillies and Mares group one at Ascot. HT: ‘I knew that she was special. She’s still a
little weak and has some growing to do. She has a big future.’

6. 8 Sep. The best rides of Hayley this season were with Hallelujah. In May, both won a good
handicap at Newbury after a hard fight with Richard Hughes’ horse.
This day both got another victory in a listed race run at York after an incredible finish. HT: ‘I’m thrilled really. I’ve put in a lot of effort to get back riding. Win
a listed race straight away meant a lot of for me’

7. 7 Sep. Flying Bear broke a losing streak at Ascot, where Hayley
didn’t ride a winner from two years ago.
8. Two rides in Group One races. The first one
was in Dubai World Cup Night, where Hayley sat on I’m A Dreamer,
finishing 7th in the Dubai
Duty Free. In June Hayley travelled to France, riding Glacial Age in the Jockey
Club, the French Derby.
